Day Three: And Now I'm Uncomfortable

Note about my video blogs: I know that these are sometimes hit or miss. Today you'll probably be able to tell how stressed I'm feeling. The reason I post video blogs -- flaws and all -- is to just change things up and to let you see into my life a little more. Many of you are sharing your lives and your stories with me, so I'm trying to do the same.

Keep sharing. Talk to me in the comments.

YOU GO GIRL! Wow...I have no words, but I hope you have an awesome day, uncomfortableness and all. I really, really like the idea of doing three things a day. So: my three things for today-- going over my money issues & sending update to my money accountability partner (check!), taking some time to just sit and relax (check, when my BOSS has to tell me to do it I know I'm overdoing myself!), and the third thing will be calling my grandma. I haven't talked to her in a few months (yikes) and it needs to be done. I'll call her on my way to babysitting in an hour. :) Happy Weekend!

Wow, what a great idea. I've always had a similar idea. Every day we should expose ourselves to something we usually wouldn't dare doing, or something we've been afraid of.

I've tried it, but sometimes day's just don't give enough time or things to be able to do this.

I just think you're neat. You have quickly become one of my favorite bloggers.

I wish you all the luck in the world with your applications. I know what a giant pain in the ass they can be, although I'm sure doctoral is a different breed entirely.

If I may ask, I'd love to know what program or area of study you're looking into.

I've been a giant slug today, and exiled myself to my house until I start my paper. So... I haven't left the house and I haven't started my paper. I suck at this game.

Go for it! I think it's awesome you're putting yourself out there like that...
I surfed my first contest today (after taking a redeye flight from Puerto Rico to Florida and being sleep deprived) and somehow managed a 3rd place finish in my division after having my leash break and almost drowning in rough conditions. It was my first time being tested like that both in a contest setting and then in a survival situation. Life is too short to second guess things. Go for it. Take nothing for granted and live life to the fullest!

First, congratulations!! That is SO exciting!

Hmm...three things...

1. Find a way to turn the money I spend at Starbucks into a financial increase instead of decrease; company stock?

2. Figure out a way to burn the necessary calories a day in working out, without having to actually "workout."

3. See if I can get an institution to give me an honorary PhD so I don't have to spend the next three years of my life slaving away to get it on my own.

I'm fascinated by the fact that you are worried about asking for recs from people who know you but are totally okay with posting a video of yourself to total strangers! I'd be freaking out over the reverse. Funny how people are different.

Okay, so I've got some advice & commiseration to offer you.

I went through vet school and have applied for oodles of highly competitive things in the past. The key thing to remember about asking for letters of rec is that the people writing them have probably fostered you in your education. So they WANT you to do well and succeed. So the WANT to write these letters. Trust me.

Secondly, applying is tough but the worst thing that can happen is you don't get it. I didn't get into a program I was dying to join last year. And my arch nemesis got the coveted spot.

Bitch.

But now I can honestly say it worked out for the best. I'm so happy where I am today. So try moving ahead knowing that things will work out as they will and all you can do is your best.

Good luck!!

(p.s. my 3 things has fallen behind due to work... and pathetic motivation on my part. blah. boo me.)
