Today I am miserable.
And I wish I could watch, because when I'm miserable, I should be selling tickets. It's quite the performance.
I flop onto couches like fainting Victorian women in too-tight corsets. I sigh significantly as I gaze out of windows or just away from my audience. I wrap myself in blankets and mournfully huddle in a corner, as if to protect myself from the bitter cold of my [heated] apartment.
One of the most anticipated and rarely-seen acts of my repertoire is the T-Rex stomp (I'm serious, people have begged to see this). Bundled in my Cranky Blanket and tucking it firmly beneath my elbows, I stomp angrily around the house. My forearms have limited motion, thanks to the elbow situation, so I gesture awkwardly as I growl out my frustration and slam things around.
I really get into character for this one. I enjoy seeing myself as powerful yet misunderstood tyrannosaurus.
What's funny is that by indulging in this kind of melodrama, I begin to feel better. There's something about the ridiculousness of fake faints and dinosaur stomps that tends to put things in perspective and help me laugh.
What do you do to get out of a funk?

Well, now we need some video of this T Rex! I ususally go for a run or workout of some kind to clear the funk. Works every time for me!
I drink a pot or ten of coffee!
hahah I laughed out loud a little at this. Whenever I'm in a funk I am completely dramatic and act like its the end of the world.
To make it better I'll usually sit down and watch an episode of 30 Rock. That usually helps me bring my spirits up again!
I maybe mope around like a six-year-old. And get grumpy and say things like "the clothes should just learn to fold themselves." It's a little bit ridiculous. However, my husband usually giggles at me and tells me I'm cute, and then I grin and the world gets a little bit better. :)
I have to admit to doing a bit of sulky melodrama acting as well- lots of deep sighs and eye rolls. Then I either laugh at myself or go hide with a good book for the night.
Hope that whatever was terrible becomes less so for you soon!
I hate The Funk.
I cope with most extreme emotions using food. Just depends if your funk is cured with Chinese takeout, large assorted pizzas or butt-loads of doughnuts.
I recommend experimenting with all of them until you find what works for you.
Until then, enjoy your dinosaur posture!
I get out of the house.
Even if I don't feel like it, because of the funk, I force myself to go for a walk. the colder outside, the better. I come back refreshed and in a better mood.

to get out of my funk i usually do two things
I put on rap music - you know, the kind , biggie smalls, snoop, eminem.
i throw on a pair or tights with some leg warmers and pretend Im a back up dancer
funk Over .
To get out of a funk?... There are so many ways but none match yours in a humor.

Lunch with my wife gets me out of a funk...music gets me out of a funk...a long, hot shower gets me out of a funk...
bahaha I cracked up when I read this, because I do the cranky pants routine scarily well....I blast music, dance around like an idiot in my fuzzy bathrobe and THEN I feel better! Love your blog, glad I found it!
