I'm Not In Jail, So That's Good

This button has caused me untold sorrow and frustration. It almost got me arrested.
Last night, I was driving home from a Christmas party when I discovered that my car windows didn't work. None of them.

So I wearily made a mental note to call the garage in the morning and see how much money it would take to fix this problem. Because it's fun to drop a few hundred on car windows around Christmas time.

At 4 a.m., I woke up panicked. I realized that I could get pulled over! My windows wouldn't roll down when the cop came over! I'd open my door and he'd yell at me for getting out of the car, and before I could explain I'd be thrown to the ground and handcuffed! And if I tried to tell him about my windows, I'd be charged with resisting arrest!

Those stupid windows were getting me put away, and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it.

I didn't fall back asleep. So I worried for two more hours until my alarm went off, and then I went to give an exam. I stopped at Starbucks before heading to the garage, and explained to a friend how I was probably going to jail because of my broken windows.

"Um... could I take a look at them?" asked my friend. "I don't know much about cars, but I'd hate for you to go to the garage or get arrested."

"Sure, what's the harm?"

Andy walked out to my car, pushed THAT button, and suddenly my windows worked again. Apparently I have a window lock.

While my friend was nice enough not to laugh at me, the mechanic was not. But I am not in jail.

haha it happens to the best of us! Once I accidentally turned on my rear windshield wipers, when it wasnt raining and there was a cop behind me. I freaked out that he would think I was drunk or crazy and pull me over. Luckily he didnt.. and I figured out how to turn them off after like 5 miles.

I tell this story only to make you feel better.

I got in my car one morning only to discover when I turned my ignition that the car would not start. But my doors were locked and I was inside. Because everything is not manual I panicked thinking I was TRAPPED IN THE CAR.

I called AAA and they were on their way out. I called my work to tell them I was trapped in my car and would be late. It was then, ONLY THEN, that I realized I could just reach over and unlock the car the old fashioned way.

Total idiot moment.

poor baby, I think we've all been there at one time or another, like discovering the steering wheel lock function, where is the thingie for the hood? Etc.. etc..

Have a great week, freebird. :0)

Someone stole my "bless your heart"!

And that phrase can have so many different meanings. I would never use it negatively against you.

I would, however, use it to mean, "That sounds exactly like something I would do, but I'm secretly glad it happened to you first so now it probably won't happen to me, but I'm still sad for you!"

P.S. I wrote a post and after I published it, realized that it sounded much like one you wrote a few weeks ago. I apologize for subconsciously ripping off your idea.

I have one of those "new-fangled" cars that have manual windows and locks. I find it rather amusing when people get out of the car and forget to lock the door. I have to remind them that we have manual locks.
